MADAMA BUTTERFLY AT LAST!
From 19th March to 7th May I’m singing in this masterpiece by Puccini at The Metropolitan Opera in New York, in the highly-acclaimed production by Anthony Minghella, conducted by Maestro Alexander Soddy.
I approach the role of Cio-Cio-San with both love and pride as I take on another one of the greatest soprano roles. However, I also want to delve more deeply into the tragic greatness of this heroine, who was deceived in love, and unaware of her destiny as a temporary bride. I’m confident that I will give my all as an artist and as a woman to portray Madama Butterfly, a heroine whose pride and noble spirit in the face of defeat are without bounds.
I’d like to thank the MET, which I love so much, for asking me to make this important role debut here. It is a great honour.
