VIVA VERDI VERDI GALA
Teatro Regio, Parma | 10 October
I'm taking part in another concert to support the “Viva Verdi” project promoted by the Ministry of Culture for the acquisition and valorisation of the composer's house museum in Sant’Agata di Villanova sull’Arda. And what better opportunity to make a further contribution to this cause than the 210th anniversary of Giuseppe Verdi's birth? I agreed immediately, thanks to the special permission granted me by the Wiener Staatsoper (where I'm engaged in the coming weeks as Suor Angelica).
It's always a great pleasure to be back in Parma, and this time I'll also have other commitments as I'll be taking part in the theatre's community engagement project "Manifesto etico", so my two days here will be full of activity, and at last I'll be able to experience the atmosphere of the birthday that opera lovers most look forward to. Celebrations will start in the morning with the ceremony in honour of Verdi attended by representatives of the city's institutions and organisations, in Piazza della Pace at the Verdi monument, during which “Va pensiero” will be sung by the Chorus of the Teatro Regio di Parma and the Corale Giuseppe Verdi.
At 8 p.m.,Clementine Margaine, Gregory Kunde and Michele Pertusi will also be on stage for the evening gala performance, with Omer Meir Wellber conducting the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini and the Chorus of the Teatro Regio di Parma prepared by Martino Faggiani. The programme encapsulates the most precious essence of Verdi, and I'll have the honour of singing the duet “Già nella notte densa” from Otello and the aria “Tu che le vanità” from Don Carlo.

As always and forever, Viva Verdi!
