As you already know, on 28th June at 9 p.m. I’m singing in the concert entitled Puccini secondo Muti conducted by Riccardo Muti at the helm of the Orchestra Cherubini in the twentieth anniversary year of its establishment and to mark the centenary of Puccini’s death. It will be an exceptional event because it takes place in the composer’s birthplace, under the marvellous, unique city walls of Lucca, and will be broadcast live by Rai 3 and worldwide. Moreover, there’s also, as is to be expected, a rich programme, created with Maestro Muti’s flawless taste (how wonderful to start with the Preludio sinfonico, composed at such a young age, poetry dawning in the most poetic of our opera composers).

For all these reasons, along with all the other information about the event, I want to give you the programme and send my best wishes to the 130 musicians of the Orchestra Cherubini and to the colleagues who will, like me, have the honour of performing on this special stage. Here we all are, on the official programme: Preludio Sinfonico; Un bel dì vedremo from Madama Butterfly (soprano, Eleonora Buratto); Recondita armonia from Tosca (tenor, Luciano Ganci); Che gelida manina from La bohème (tenor, Dmitry Korchak); Vissi d’arte from Tosca (soprano, Eleonora Buratto); Ch’ella mi creda from La fanciulla del West (tenor, Francesco Meli); Duet O soave fanciulla from La bohème (soprano Mariangela Sicilia, tenor Dmitry Korchak); Donde lieta from La bohème (soprano, Mariangela Sicilia); Senza mamma from Suor Angelica (soprano, Lidia Fridman); E lucevan le stelle from Tosca (tenor, Luciano Ganci); Tu che di gel sei cinta from Turandot (soprano, Eleonora Buratto); Intermezzo from Manon Lescaut; Act 4 Manon Lescaut (soprano Lidia Fridman, tenor Francesco Meli).
